2010 Children's Day

Another Free event!

May 8, 2010 from 10AM to 12:30PM at Colorado College’s Gates Common Room in Palmer Hall (just east of Tutt Library on the Colorado College Campus).
NOTE: All indoor craft activities end at 11:30 A.M., followed by special demonstrations that include Koto Music and a Gala Japanese Fashion Show.

Children of all ages are invited to participate in various craft activities; everyone (adults, too!) invited to enjoy the demonstrations! All craft supplies will be provided.

INDOOR CRAFT ACTIVITIES (10 A.M. – 11:30 A.M.)
–Origami (Art of Paper Folding)
–Shuji (Calligraphy)
–Koinobori (Carp Making)
–Manga & Anime
–Koto (Japanese Harp)
–Mother’s Day Card Making
–Go (Japanese Checkers)
–Kendama & Darumaotoshi (Traditional Japanese Games)

OUTDOOR DEMONSTRATION ACTIVITIES (11:30 A.M. – 12:30 P.M.)
–Ninja Demonstration
–Koto Music
–Gala Japanese Fashion Show*

*NOTE TO PARENTS: If possible, dress your child in kimono, yukata, or even martial arts uniforms so they can participate in the GALA JAPANESE FASHION SHOW!

Asian Cooking Classes
 

Our Cooking Classes combine the flavors and techniques of Japan/China/Hawaii. Taught by members and invited chefs. Classes are held every two months.    
                                                                                                          
Classes meet at 11:00 AM on a Saturday.  Each class costs $5 for Members and $20 for Non-Members. Limit: 15 participants.

Japanese Language Classes
  

We offer beginner, intermediate, advanced, and business Japanese classes. Classes are usually group lessons to facilitate conversation and interaction. Please contact each teacher about the schedule and textbook.
